Being a SAHM has perks as well as some negative impacts on a mom’s life. In the past few years, I haven’t been as physically active because we stay at home most of the time. Because of this, I’ve put on a bit of extra weight that I’m now working to shed.
In the past few weeks, I’ve been introduced to a new type of product known as a body shaper. None of the products I have tried so far have guaranteed to do what my latest shape wear, the ShāToBu, is capable of, however. Designed by a female chiropractor using scientific knowledge, this piece of shapewear not only shapes your body, but helps you tone and burn calories–all by just wearing it and going about your daily activities, such as walking or climbing the stairs at home or at work.
The size of the ShāToBu ranges from small to 3X-Large; to find your size, locate your weight and your height on the sizing chart for the type of shapewear that you purchase.
I received one pair of the high waist to knee shaper to try for myself. The high waist to knee shaper targets the tummy and the love handle areas, which is where I feel I need the most help. Since it goes to only my knees, I can wear it with a dress or under my cropped workout pants for maximum effect. It is available in two different colors: Buff or Black. I received Buff, and appreciate that it blends in with my skin and looks seamless so that no one can tell I’m wearing any kind of shapewear.
My first attempt to wear the ShāToBu was pretty disastrous; I got a workout in just trying to put the shapewear on! I got frustrated with it, and set it aside until the next day. I had better luck getting the ShāToBu on the next day; possibly it helped that it had stretched the day before when I tried to squeeze into it. At first, it felt really uncomfortable to me. One of the benefits of the ShāToBu that I didn’t even consider was that it was forcing me to correct my posture. I have always had a weak back, and I feel that wearing the ShāToBu will help me to strengthen it.
I have worn the ShāToBu when working out, and I’ll confess that I was completely skeptical of whether it would help me burn calories up to 12% more per day while wearing it. The morning after my first workout with the ShāToBu, I was less skeptical. I referred back to the chart on the back of the package of the ShāToBu where it points out the resistance and leg bands, and sure enough that is where I was feeling the burn.
I’m looking forward to making ShāToBu a part of all of my future workouts, and to wearing it on those days when I want to look slimmer, go about daily activities, and burn extra calories while just being me!
