Math Blaster Review
My six year old son loves math……is he really my son? I love to promote his love for learning new math concepts and I recently discovered Math Blaster® which is an online futuristic action game that includes fun and wacky aliens, loads of tech gadgets and math. After reading more about the program, I felt confident that it would be a really fun learning game for my son and we were not disappointed.
Adam loved becoming a “new recruit” at Blaster Academy and he took his new role seriously as he raced through fast paced missions with the help of his alien friends. My new cadet then joined the “Intergalactic Space Patrol (ISP) which is the elite squad that “explores and protects the furthest galaxies and deepest holes of the universe.”
I really appreciate that Math Blaster® has control settings for each game depending on the child’s skill level and since Adam is only six years old I would set the game to the easiest settings and choose “addition” and “subtraction”. On this setting, his confidence began to soar as he would add two numbers together and blast the correct answer into outer space. His younger siblings also enjoy watching and I even notice that they will try to help him by adding the more simple equations such as 1+4=5. There are lots of fun Math Blaster® games to play and his favorite ones are those where he is racing with aliens while he is solving math problems. He also particularly likes the adorable “Monster Mutts” and insists that he will be adopting one to take care of all by himself in the near future.
As a parent, I always want to make sure that my children are protected while playing games online and MathBlaster.com takes our children’s safety very seriously with numerous features in place and even parental controls. In addition, when my children were small, my husband and I agreed that we will limit their time online and allow them to use only high quality educational games like Math Blaster® as an incentive for a good day at school. It really works because I notice my son focusing more on his home school lessons as he looks forward to “trading” his time earned to play Math Blaster® or JumpStart for 20 minutes in the early evening. I don’t even think he realizes that he is learning…..that will remain our little secret!
