Pure Alternative Review
My life changed at the end of 2005 when I developed the chronic pain condition, vulvodynia. Over the years I have learned to deal with its effects and try to minimize its impact on my life. One of the areas I have been working on is stress relief. My body becomes very tense and sore when I’m feeling any kind of stress. It’s not fun, but I’m coping.
The funny thing is that even though my pain is centralized in the pelvic region for the most part, I do feel pain in other areas because of tightening up my entire my body when I’m in pain. For example, I feel pain often in my upper back (from being on the computer) and lower back (SI joint region). I would love to be able to afford to go get a massage but they are so expensive. I have to rely on John’s help when he is willing to rub my sore muscles. Unfortunately he never does it as long as I would like!
I’ve been using a T Heat Bag from Pure Alternative and it’s been a big help! It’s microwavable heat bag perfect for bringing relief. It’s designed so that you can easily wrap it around your neck and shoulders. Inside it contains wheat and the fabric is a soft flannel. It feels like heaven and instantly works on releasing the tension pent up in my tight muscles.
It’s really easy to use- just put it in the microwave for 2 minutes and it comes out at just the right temperature. I’ve never microwaved anything besides food before so I was a little apprehensive at first, but everything was a-ok!
I like that the T Heat Bag is multi-purpose and I can use it on different areas of my body that can be aided by the application of heat. During my period, I used it on my lower abdomen for mild cramping and it was quite soothing.
The T Heat Bag is available in either plain scent or lavender and you can specify which colour you would like. It can be purchased for $30 from Pure Alternative.
I also tried some of Pure Alternative’s all natural lip balm. My lips are often dry and cracked and look terrible. I like that Pure Alternative lip balm’s don’t contain any addictive properties. I’ve noticed with other lip balm brands the more I use them, the drier my lips become!! It should be the other way around right? These lip balms are made from ingredients I can pronounce: Sweet Almond oil, Coconut oil, beeswax, cocoa butter and an oil blend. I tried the Peach (15 ml canister) and Vanilla (15 ml tube) and they both went on so smooth and made my lips feel hydrated and soft. They are $4 right now on the Pure Alternative site and the flavours available are mint, vanilla latte, vanilla, pink grapefruit and cinnamon.
