Title: Beneath a Starlet Sky
Author: Amanda Goldberg and Ruthanna Khalighi Hopper
The lovely Lola Santisi, daughter of Oscar winning film director Paulie Santisi, is back in Beneath a Starlet Sky by best-selling authors Amanda Goldberg and Ruthanna Khaligi Hopper. In Lola’s first adventure in Celebutantes, she managed to cure her addiction to dating actors and got her gay best friend Julian’s dresses on the red carpet. Now Lola and Julian’s company is struggling, and her non-actor boyfriend is lured into the glamor and glitz of Hollywood with offers in top TV shows and upcoming movies.
Lola doesn’t need any more stress in her life, but her best friend Kate has just ended her relationship with Lola’s brother Christopher–even though everyone knows they are destined for each other. Cricket just got her big acting break, but her future in Hollywood is jeopardized when the paparazzi uncovers a secret too juicy to keep to themselves.
If you speak fluent ET, PerezHilton, and TMZ you are absolutely going to love Beneath a Starlet Sky. Lola Santisi may have been raised in the spotlight, but she is extremely down-to-earth, hardworking, and loyal to her best friends. She gets herself into some hilarious situations, but she’s not whiny and looks for the silver lining every time. Seriously, I’d love to have Lola as my best friend!
I’d definitely recommend reading Celebutantes before reading Beneath a Starlet Sky so you can get to know Lola, Kate, Cricket, Julian, Christopher, and the crazy Mr. and Mrs. Santisi. Beneath a Starlet Sky gives enough background on all the characters and a quick summary of past events, but some of my favorite faux Hollywood stars only make an appearance in Celebutantes. Saffron Sykes and Nic Knight of Beneath a Starlet Sky are definitely just as fascinating, however.
I really have nothing but praise for this book, and recommend it for anyone who is interested in fashion, Hollywood gossip, and light comedy with romance. This is laugh out loud fun that will make you call your BFF just to let her know how much you love her by the time you reach the last page.
