Book Review | The Human Bobby
Title: The Human Bobby: A Novel
Author: Gabe Rotter
The Human Bobby by Gabe Rotter is a special sort of book that will command your undivided attention. Should you choose to read this–and trust me, you really should–make sure that you have a few hours where you can read without interruption. For the few minutes during the several hours I devoted to this book that I had to put it down, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I was really invested in the characters, the forward motion of the plot, and how everything would wrap up.
The Human Bobby is the first person narrative of Dr. Bobby Flopkowski, a successful Beverly Hills pediatrician who is living the good life with his beautiful wife, Ava, and his young son, Jack. After he reconnects with a significant individual from his past, Bobby’s life–and that of his young family–is never the same again. Now a vagabond living on the beach, Bobby longs to fix all the mistakes he made and put his family back together.
Right about now you’re asking yourself how a successful doctor could become homeless. What sort of cataclysmic events could take place to rip this man’s life apart to shreds? You’re wondering why I’m teasing you and not giving you more. All I can say is that once you start reading this book, you’ll understand why I’m being so tight lipped about this book and its intriguing cast of characters.
While your interest is piqued and I’ve got your attention, add this book to your “must read” list. Or better yet, place an order for it. And if you’re the type that prefers instant gratification, head on out to your local bookseller and see if they have it in stock. Turn off your phone, ignore your email, and prepare yourself for a book that will leave you stunned and contemplating it for weeks to come.
