Please tell me about yourself.
Hello everyone, my name is Melissa and I am a junior in high school. When I graduate I want to pursue a career in speech pathology and become a certified American Sign Language Interpreter. I also love to write and I published a novel called “Ginger High” in 2009. I am presently working on the sequel but school work is taking up much of my time know. My mom, Eileen is coauthor of the blog and she works part time as a Registered Nurse.
Please tell me about your blog.
On Books R Us, we like to blog about a variety of topics. We love to host giveaways and write reviews about many different products.
How long have you been blogging?
Since July 2009.
How did you get started?
I started blogging when I published “Ginger High” to promote the book. Although the book did not become a best seller, I still love to blog.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
We do not sell any items on the blog, but we review books, house wares, post interesting articles and contests.
What was your favorite giveaway?
I especially liked Blogmania. I had the opportunity to learn how to obtain sponsors and put together a giveaway.
Who does your blog appeal to?
I feel that the blog appeals more to mothers and book lover.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I would like to expand the blog to provide more articles and possibly provide more advertising so I can offer bigger giveaways in the future.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
The biggest challenge is obtaining sponsors for giveaways. I have had so many rejections or the person does not respond back at all. I would love to learn about template design and change the blog for each season.
What do you love about blogging?
It is fun to write about interesting topics and I have had the pleasure to participate in many different giveaways.
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
My pet peeve is definitely Captcha and I prefer to enter a contest via a form.
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?
I usually ask you to follow via GFC, twitter or facebook because I announce giveaways through those networks.
For Newbie review bloggers it is a lot of work. Sometimes I can get many books a week andrely on my mom to help with the reviews. If I have any questions, I surf the web and I find out most of my answers.
