The Little Engine That Could DVD Review
“I think I can, I think I can”…….who can ever forget that classic line of courage and bravery! One of my favorite storybooks from childhood has been made into the most adorable DVD for youngsters. Years later, my own children, ages 3, 4 and 5 were captivated by the Little Engine and the colorful cast of characters in Dreamland. In fact, there was not one word uttered from them (except giggles and singing) for the entire 84 minutes as they watched The Little Engine that Could on a recent car trip.
Universal Studios Home Entertainment is releasing this full feature length DVD on March, 22nd 2011 and it is sure to delight preschoolers and little ones everywhere. My five year old said that his favorite part was that the “Little Engine didn’t give up and was able to deliver toys to the children in the real world.” My three year and four year olds chimed in that they liked it when “the Little Engine met his family” and they were glad that she worked hard and stood up to the “mean train”.
With the talented voices of Alyson Stoner (Little Engine), Whoopi Goldberg and Jamie Lee Curtis and more, I appreciate that this is a family film that everyone can enjoy and has a timeless message of courage and bravery for young children. The animation was very nice and you can even watch a trailer clip of The Little Engine That Could too see it for yourself.
If you are planning to travel by rail, you are not going to want to miss out on this special offer: Limited Time Offer: Buy the DVD and receive a “Kids Ride Free” AMTRAK coupon. Coupons valid from when booking your travel from March 22 – September 15, 2011 for travel October 1, 2011 – February 29, 2012 (restrictions and black-out dates apply).
I was also impressed that Universal has partnered with the Starlight Foundation to donate 50 cents for every DVD sold in order to benefit this charity. I was not yet familiar with the Starlight Foundation but have since learned that for more than 25 years, this organization’s mission is to improve the lives of chronically or terminally ill children with “entertainment, education and family activities that can help them cope with the pain, fear and isolation that comes from a prolonged illness.” Not only can you purchase a fantastic family DVD but you can feel good that you are contributing a portion to a much needed charitable foundation too!
You can even join The Little Engine That Could Facebook fan page too!
