Green Beaver Gluten Free Body Wash Review

Many people I know follow a gluten free lifestyle. I thought it was always just about food, but I recently discovered it’s more than that. People with Celiac disease also need to avoid gluten in personal care products in addition to watching what they eat.

Celiac disease is  an auto-immune disorder of the small intestine and it’s estimated that 1 in 133 Canadians have it. People with Celiac disease are intolerant to the gluten protein found in wheat, rye, barley and various types of grains. Some people are gluten sensitive- meaning they don’t have Celiac, but are still affected negatively by gluten.

I always thought gluten was just in foods, but it’s also actually in many personal care products like shampoos, lip balms, body washes, etc. Many people with Celiac want to avoid any kind of contact with gluten and there is a need for these types of products to be gluten free. The Green Beaver Company is filling this void with their new line of certified  organic, gluten-free shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body wash and lip balm.

Although I am not affected by Celiac disease, I have in the past followed tried the gluten-free diet. I think I might be a bit sensitive to gluten, but have never been officially diagnosed. In any case, I tried out the Gluten Free Body Wash (240 mL- $9.99) and really liked it. It had a pleasant refreshing scent and was easy to use and work up into a lather. It rinsed off easily and left my skin feeling really soft.  I also like that it’s free of parabens and other nasty chemicals. I would be interested in trying the other products from the Green Beaver Gluten Free line.

The Gluten Free line is now available in health stores across Canada. Visit Green Beaver to learn more!
