Book Review | The Naked Mom
Author: Brooke Burke
When I was asked to review The Naked Mom by Brooke Burke, I will admit that I had a moment of fleeting desire to say “no” because I expected it to be another fluffy celebrity parenting book that would bore me to tears. I am so glad that I didn’t let that preconceived notion stop me from reading The Naked Mom because it is one of the most enjoyable books written by a celebrity that I have ever read.
Not only is The Naked Mom a fun read but it is also has a very “real” feel to it as written from the perspective of a modern mom of four children. I was able to relate too many of her experiences both good and bad and I appreciated her openness and honesty as she shares her life story as a woman, wife and mother.
Brooke Burke does not sugar coat motherhood or the trials of a maintaining a relationship and a sense of self. It is a celebration of appreciating your “authentic, naked self” and in my opinion she does a great job with this book.
From her celebrity experience, I appreciate her insider tips that are also “do-able” for all women such as coconut oil as a hair treatment (I tried this one and LOVED it!) and even a recipe for a cleansing soup (very tasty).
The Naked Mom has a very warm feel to it, almost as if you are listening to your girlfriend share her life with you over a cup of coffee.
