Blog Spotlight | Brain Foggles
Today I would like to welcome Connie from Brain Foggles. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
At one time I was a young mom and now I’m an older mom. Sound like a riddle? Nope, it’s my life. My daughters are 12 years apart! It’s amazing because I never thought I’d have another daughter. With one daughter finished with grad school and now a Librarian, married and living halfway across the country and another in middle school who thinks she’s in her 30’s, I’m a mom who has to multitask for sure. I’m married to a supportive and loving husband who is finally getting this thing called blogging, but is with me every step of the way.
Having health problems isn’t a reason for me to curl up and do nothing, in fact when I was diagnosed with a rare disease, Myasthenia Gravis, I began to look to the internet for answers and support. Now I’m an advocate for others with medical conditions and disabilities, health care reform and the need for prevention and education of diseases and conditions.
I’m a Disney FANatic who visits Disney World quite often. Disney is a big part of my life as it makes me smile and focus on the positives.
Please tell me about your blog.
My main blog is Brain Foggles, which is a product review blog. I’m moving into other areas of writing including travel, parenting, nonprofits and advocacy.
How long have you been blogging?
Officially, since April of 2007. I wrote on something called “Yahoo 360” before that which was a public blog forum.
How did you get started?
A friend had a blog and told me about it. Right after I saw what she was doing, started my own blog.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
Only family friendly items and ones that I or my family would use. I focus on household products, tech gadgets, apps, food and movies.
What was your favourite giveaway?
The iGo Charge Anywhere because it’s one of my favorite gadgets. I use it every day.
Who does your blog appeal to?
My stats show that my readers are mainly parents in the 20 – 30 age range.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I’d like to work with one company that I believe in as their brand ambassador, and add more travel, parenting and advocacy posts.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
Fitting in the time to write and promote my work.
What do you love about blogging?
I love sharing information with my readers, whether it’s a new product, a nonprofit or advice about their children. If someone learns something they needed, I’m thrilled.
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
Any type of drama among bloggers is just awful. There’s enough room on the internet to stay away from someone you don’t like or don’t agree with and enough room to support other bloggers.
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?
For giveaways – read the rules before you enter and leave separate comments for each entry. For newbie bloggers – ask questions, do your research, join forums and comment on other blogs.
Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.
There’s so many! I just did a post about 5 fabulous bloggers which was difficult to write because it’s hard to narrow it down.
