Veggie Tales: Happy Together DVD Review

My family has been fans of the Veggie Tales for years because of the positive messages it promotes for children……and the characters are just so adorable! My kids were delighted with the latest Veggie Tales DVD release, Happy Together because it includes “Sweet Pea” their favorite new character as well as original favorites like Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato. Veggie Tales: Happy Together features three classic stories about friendship and has over 80 minutes of stories, songs and “happy moments” including Sheerluck Holmes and the Golden Ruler, The Grapes of Wrath and Esther: The Girl Who Became Queen.

I am always impressed with the way that Veggie Tales can incorporate values such as “family, friendship and faith” in such a way that is entertaining and humorous for children and grown-ups too. Veggie Tales programming is one of the few “kid” shows that my husband really enjoys watching on our Family Movie Nights. I also like how this DVD includes animation using real children’s voices about their thoughts on the true meaning of happiness. It gave us a giggle to hear our three little ones discussing “happiness” amongst each other and to hear what happiness means in the eyes of an innocent child. Of course the inclusion of three silly songs was a big hit with our kids too and ended up with our entire family dancing around the living room singing our favorite silly songs such as “Dance of the Cucumber.” (Yes, my husband sang and danced too but I wasn’t supposed to mention that…shhh!)

This is a really neat gift idea for spring and would make a fun Valentine’s Day gift or as an addition to an Easter basket. I think that this is a really good value for only $14.99. To purchase Veggie Tales: Happy Together you are invited to visit the Big Idea website or pick up a copy at a retail store near you.
