Title: Hollywood Stories: Short, Entertaining Anecdotes about the Stars and Legends of the Movies!

Author: Stephen Schochet

My Review:

Hollywood Stories is full of amusing and entertaining anecdotes about all kinds of celebrities. Numerous subjects can be looked up to find stories about actors like Jim Carey and George Burns. Like many people, I am interested in the lives of famous people and I enjoy watching Biography and reading about celebrities lives online. Hollywood Stories gives a glimpse at funny and personal moments in the lives of some of these famous people.

I like the fact that I could pick up the book anytime and open to any spot in the book and have a read. It reminds me of the digest magazines that can be found in many doctor’s offices, because it provides entertainment without requiring a long time to read. This book would be great in any office where people have to wait for appointments.

The stories in the book are not “trashy” private stories that the subjects would be embarrassed to have written. They are funny and entertaining, without being tabloid type stories. These are stories that I would be okay with my teenage son reading.

It was very interesting to read about actors that I only know from old movies. Today’s actors are so publicized that it is rare to learn something completely new about them, but actors like Humphrey Bogart are more of a mystery to me. I am also intrigued my war times, and I enjoyed learning a bit about different actors’ involvement in the war. Many of the actors discussed in this book are not very “current”, but still fun to read about.

*I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this novel.*
