Blog Spotlight | Marvelous Mommy
Today I would like to welcome Amy from Marvelous Mommy. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
I am a 23 year old stay-at-home mom. I was married to my wonderful husband David in November 2008. We got pregnant 2 months later with our precious baby girl Natalie! I am now currently pregnant with baby girl #2. Due March 31, 2011!!
Please tell me about your blog.
Marvelous Mommy is a blog about my life as a stay at home mommy and wife. I blog about my wonderful mommy moments, great recipes, reviews, giveaways, pregnancy, photography, and weight loss after a baby!
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since June 2009. I originally started a blog called “Expecting Our First” but after Natalie was born, I decided it was time for a change. I officially launched Marvelous Mommy on April 1, 2010. And plan on having a ‘re-launch’ on January 1, 2011 when I switch from Blogger to WordPress. I am keeping the same name, just doing a total makeover!
How did you get started?
Actually, my husband was the one that got me started and even came up with my blog name – both of them. My sister had already been blogging for awhile so I knew what blogging was about but I got interested in blogging myself after seeing some mommy blogs listed on BabyCenter.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
Most of the products I feature are items for women of all ages, mommies, pregnant women, babies, kids, and even men. All are family friendly products which I believe in and stand behind.
What was your favourite giveaway?
I have participated in a few large giveaway events now and I have really enjoyed them! My first was “Blogmania” which was a huge success and the most recent was the “Holiday Gift Giveaway Hop” which was a $110 CSN Stores giveaway! I am very excited to be a part of the “Winter Follower Tour” coming in January!! We will be giving away $950 in cash!!!
Who does your blog appeal to?
Mostly women of all ages with and without children. Although I do have they occasional male reader!
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I really enjoy blogging so I believe Marvelous Mommy is only going to grow bigger and better. However with a husband, two baby girls, college, and starting a web design business, you never know where life will take you.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
TIME! It’s hard to be a full-time wife, a full-time mommy, a full-time housekeeper, AND a full-time blogger!! You have to find the right balance to make it all work!
What do you love about blogging?
I think what I love most about blogging are the people I meet. A lot of these women I have never met in real life but I feel just as close, or closer, to them as I do my friends in real life!
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
I don’t really have many blogging pet peeves because I believe blogging is a way to express yourself and I think you should be allowed to do whatever you want on your own blog. However, it does annoy me when people post random crap they’ve found online especially when it’s not good information. If you’re going to share something or recommended something to your readers, I think you should know a little bit about it first.
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?
For the newbie reviewers, you need to show companies you’ll work hard to promote them and be confident in your work. DON’T work for free! If you are doing something for a company, you should be getting something in return — review/giveaway/cash – something! Your time is valuable!
The biggest help for me staring out was doing events. Like birthday bash events and large blog hopping events. Also, join review networks! Like Business 2 Blogger, MamaBuzz, and one of my favorites right now, Family Review Network. Although I heard FRN was no longer taking on new reviewers.
Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.
I read so many blogs it’s hard to narrow it down, but I find myself frequently visiting My Wee View, Jolly Mom (she’s a Georgia gal like me), the new and improved Mom Spotted, and my newest addiction Eighty MPH Mom. Oh and of course, Simply Stacie! 😉
