Blog Spotlight | Haute Mom
Today I would like to welcome Kelley from Haute Mom. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
I am a first time mom to daughter Stella (now 7 months old). I was a career girl by all means, working two jobs (teaching 7th grade and college) and a business owner with my hubby. I loved wine, designer jeans. and great heels. When my daughter was born, she turned my world upside down! I traded my Gucci purses for disper bags and me designer jeans for sweat pants! I have struggled with the lifestyle change and loved every minute of it. I am now returning back to work after being home with her for 7 months so there will be many more trials to come!
Please tell me about your blog.
My blog Haute Mom is a personal journal of all the trials and dilemmas that I have experienced since becoming a mom. It has grown to include recipes that are easy to make when you have little ones at home as well as products that i have learned not to live without. I moan and groan and cherish all the input and support I get from my followers!
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for a short 7 months – only since I became a mommy!
How did you get started?
I started blogging as a journal of my experiences as a new mom. I had a dilemma that I wasn’t sure how to deal with so I posted my blog and asked for advice. Advice from my friends and fellow moms poured in and were so helpful! I realized that blogging was a great way to connect with other moms who had experienced similar things. I learned to look forward to hearing from moms around the country who wanted to support me with the things I was going through. I also had many other bloggers reach out to me personally to encourage me to do things to build up my blog and get it out there. My blog wouldn’t be close to where it is today if it weren’t for them!
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
I feature products that help make me a “haute mom”. These things vary from products for moms that make things easier (such as ReUsies plastic bags) to items for little Stella that make a mom’s life simpler (such as the McLaren umbrella stroller)
What was your favourite giveaway?
My favorite giveaway was for the Moby Wrap. I swore by it when Stella was a little one! It was the only thing that could get her to sleep. I loved that I was able to give one to another mom to enjoy. I also have a great giveaway right now for Zootie Patootie Leg Warmers which I LOVE! They are so cute and make diaper changing so much easier than having pants on!
Who does your blog appeal to?
My blog appeals to all the other fellow moms out there who love being a mommy but aren’t ready to trade in their inner diva. The moms out there who aren’t afraid to fight for their inner hauteness! From what I have heard, I also appeal to all those women out there who are living their fabulous lives but want to have children someday!
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I see my blog continuing to grow and am hoping it will become a network for all the moms out there who tend to want the same things and deal with the same things. I would like the blog to become a place where others can go to and know that we all struggle and have our ups and down as moms.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
The biggest challenge I have facedis with keeping up with my posts! Being a mom is hard, and a working mom is even worse. I really have to make time to work on my blog and keep up with my posts.
What do you love about blogging?
I love the relief I get from blogging. I often feel like I have just called and vented to my best friend. Most of my posts aren’t centered around me or how great things are, but rather the struggles I deal with. I love letting other moms know that we all go through hard times and I love getting encouraging words from others or letting other moms know that nobody’ life is perfect.
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
My blogging pet peeve is when blogs copy other blogs. It is such a small community that it is so obvious when one blog has gotten an idea from another one. We are all supposed to be working together and building one another up, not stealing ideas from each other.
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?
I would just advise my readers to enter and complete as many extra entries as possible. I would also suggest not being afraid to enter! Whether or not you think you are going to win or use the product, take the few minutes and enter the giveaway. You could have a great chance of winning something that you may end up loving. So many giveaways end up with low entries because nobody thinks they will win! For newbie review bloggers I would advise staying honest. Don’t review products that you normally wouldn’t buy or use. It is so much more fun to share a product that you love than try to force youraself to make something sound good for the sake of reviewing.
Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.
I love reading so many but Babes in Disneyland, Mom’s Tree House, The Meditative Mom, Positive Mom, and Chubby Cheeks Thinks stick out in my mind right now! I am starting a Haute Mom’s Club to share other haute mom blogs so be on the lookout!
