Blog Spotlight: Fairy Good Mommy

Today I would like to welcome Amanda from Fairy Good Mommy. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say:

Please tell me about yourself.

My name is Amanda and I am a 31 y/o wife and STAH mommy of 2 little ones ages 2 & 4 plus 1 step-daughter age 8.  Along with being a full time mommy, I am also a Soccer and T-ball coach for my daughter’s teams.  I am also a member of the PTA for my daughters school as well.

With everything going on, I still have found the time to start my online boutique and Fairy Good Mommy.  I’m very busy and keep active all day long.

Please tell me about your blog.

Fairy Good Mommy is a family based website.  I complete Reviews and Giveaway that are Family Friendly.

On November 25th (My Birthday and Thanksgiving) I was mentioned in the NY Times regarding my review on Squinkies.  I have received so many new followers and sponsors since that day.  What a wonderful Birthday gift.

How long have you been blogging?

I started blogging the beginning of July, 2010.

How did you get started?

I was actually at a 4th of July picnic at my friends house.  Angie the owner/author of A Simple Kinda Life was there and we started talking about how she does reviews and offers giveaways.  That night I went home and started looking into the blogging world and fell in love immediately.

Ever since that day, I have been working on Fairy Good Mommy.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I feature a variety of different products.  Mainly I feature products geared towards children and women.  For example multiple toys, medicine, cleaning products, books and so much more.

What was your favorite giveaway?

My Fairytastic Holiday Gift Guide and Giveaways have been my favorite lately and they have been so much fun.  I love being able to give people a chance to win their holiday shopping instead of them actually spending their hard earned money on things.  With myself being a stay at home mom and my hubby being laid off with the Union since last December, I really appreciate the opportunity to win items from other the other bloggers Holiday Guides.

Who does your blog appeal to?

My blog mainly appeals to moms I believe or anyone that take care of kids.  It gives them the opportunity to check out new products coming out on the market and also gives them a chance to win one for their family.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I am really hoping to grow as large as your (LOL)… I would really like the chance to be able to review larger items and receive more ad sponsors. I work very hard on my blog and I know that it will pay off in the end.  At this moment in time, I am trying to apply for larger (more expensive) items to review.  So I am doing my best to build up my follower numbers and trying to please everyone.

I absolutely LOVE all my followers and they have been so supportive.  I just want to be able to give them a chance to explore the next level in review blogging.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

My biggest challenge at first was actually finding sponsors and products to review.  At this time, I have some wonderful sponsors that offer repeat review opportunities.

Another challenge is the time.  With being a STAH mom of 2 little ones, the time often comes short where I can sit down for an hour and really concentrate on my reviews.  I think it will be easier once they head to school full time and I will be able to complete my work during the day instead of staying up until 3am.

Due to my challenge of time restraint, I have recruited a Co-Author for Fairy Good Mommy.  Her name is Courtney and she is a Stay at home Military Wife and Mom.  She has 2 little ones as well ages 3 (son) & 4 (daughter) plus a step-son that is 12.  She is also expecting number 3 in July 2011.  Her daughter and my daughter attend the same Pre-K and are the bestest of friends.

What do you love about blogging?

I love the people.  I have met so many wonderful people through following my site along with all the other bloggers out there.  They have shown so much support for Fairy Good Mommy along with support of myself and my family.

Since I have a few medical issues, they have been so kind with all of their thought, prayers and best wishes and I am trying to live with my conditions.

I love them all and cherish each and everyone of them.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

I actually have only have 1 pet peeve.  The first one is the spam comments that I receive on some of my posts.  They are actually promoting non-family oriented links and comments.  I try to catch all of them when they hit so no one is able to see them.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

My advice for entering my giveaways:

Enter as many comments as you can.  The winners are always chosen as random and you have a better chance to win if you have multiple comments.  So go ahead and follow me on twitter, facebook, etc.  The more you enter the better chance you have to win.

My advice for the newbies:

Start joining the blogging communities such as Product Review Place, Giveaway Blogs, Mommy Bloggers Club, Bloggy Moms, Twitter Moms and everything else out there.  They often will have certain pages where companies are looking for reviewers.  If you don’t think that you would qualify or you are shy to enter, please enter anyway.  I use to enter every single opportunity that they offered.  I wasn’t accepted in some, but they kept my information on file.  Then as my site started growing, they came back and offered me reviews at a later time.

Tell me some of your favorite blogs that you read.

Of course I love Simply Stacie… I love the way that you write your reviews and of course I love the all the giveaways.

I am a constant reader for a few more and seem to enter almost every giveaway that they offer:

Family and Life in Vegas, Crazy Coupon Mommy, The Frugal Bug, Chubby Cheeks Thinks, One Little Mister, My Wee View and just so many more… I probably follow over 500 blogs and I would be here all day trying to name them all.
