My Review:

I wasn’t sure what to expect when we sat down to watch Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2. I missed seeing the first movie one (which I now need to watch!). The movie opens to a wedding ceremony and guess who was the bride and groom? You guessed it- it was 2 Chihuahuas, Papi and Chloe! How sweet- a dog wedding! I thought it was really cute to see all the humans celebrating the union of two dogs in love.

Fast forward a few months and Papi and Chloe now have a litter of puppies who love getting into mischief. Papi, their dad, is like a puppy at heart and has fun getting dirty with his pups. It was funny watching all the puppies go down the slide and into the mud. It was even funnier when Papi decided to participate and get dirty too! Chloe didn’t like that so much!

I liked how the dogs were able to talk to one another and understand, but to humans, it would just sound like a dog barking. Papi was HILARIOUS! I love him and I was cracking up at all the one liners. I also really liked Pedro who I think was a pitbull. When Pedro was first introduced to the puppies, he cracked a smile and the puppies ran for cover. One yelled out in fear, “it’s Dogzilla!”. Papi told them not to worry that was just Pedro smiling. Oh boy- it was scary because this dog looked like he was going to eat you alive when he shows all his teeth like that!

I thought it was noble of the Chihuahua’s and their friends to take it upon themselves to help save their human owner’s house from  being taken over by the bank. They plan to enter a dog show where the prize is $50,000, which is enough to save the house. Their competition? A prissy, uptight Poodle named Apoline, and her equally stuck up owner. The dog show scenes were my favourite part of the movie. I loved seeing the dogs do tricks and parade around in silly costumes.

This movie is great for young and old to watch especially if you are a dog lover like me. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time and will definitely be recommending this one and watching it again!
