My Daddy is a Pretzel Yoga for Parents and Kids Review
One of my all time favorite ways to exercise with my children is yoga. It is invigorating and relaxing and it teaches my children to value their bodies and respect the planet. It is also lots of fun too!
“My Daddy is a Pretzel-Yoga for Parents and Kids” by Baron Baptiste and with illustrations by Sophie Fatus is a wonderful book that encourages parents and children to learn yoga poses together. The yoga pose illustrations are very precise and easy to follow. Before I knew it and while I was still trying to figure it out myself, my children (ages 3, 4 and 5) were in the Bridge Pose, the Plow Pose, The Fish Pose and many more fun poses. I love that the story is based on “what jobs our parents do each day” and then proceeds to incorporate that into a lesson about that pose and also provides step by step instructions and illustrations to do the pose. What a wonderful introduction to yoga and the book makes it easy to take anywhere. We enjoy using “My Daddy is a Pretzel-Yoga for Parents and Kids” at home and in the park and even in our backyard when the weather is nice. One day we had a thunderstorm and our power was out and we were thinking of ideas for a “rainy day activity”. My daughter suggested doing some poses from this book and my other little ones were jumping up and down in agreement. We had a blast together and it made the time go by until the power came back on.
Author Baron Baptiste teaches a style of yoga known as power vinyasa yoga. He has successfully taught his method to many well known Hollywood actresses and his institutes offer yoga classes for children too.
