Kathi Casey’s Pilates DVD Series Review
I have always wanted to do pilates but have been somewhat intimidated that it would be too hard. I was very happy to be introduced to Kathi Casey, who is known as the “Healthy Boomer Body Expert.” After reading more about Kathi Casey on her website and about her program, I couldn’t wait to try pilates for the first time.
The first DVD that I tried from the beginner’s series was the “Get Ready For Pilates” DVD which targets lower back strengthening and includes modified pilates moves. I was most impressed with the step by step instructions that Kathi presents in such a way that it is easily understand right from the start. I surprised myself with my flexibility and felt a huge boost of confidence after completing the entire 60 minute workout. I want to note that even though this program is designed for the “Boomer” generation, I felt like it is perfect for all ages too (I am 37 and LOVE it!). I felt more energetic after completing “Get Ready For Pilates” than I have in a very long time.
Kathi Casey’s Intermediate Pilate DVD ($19.97) is challenging and really put my strength to the test without causing any pain or extreme soreness. I absolutely love the ab series of exercises which is do-able but also quite challenging and I feel stomach muscles that I have not felt since before having three back to back pregnancies. Thank you to Kathi Casey for reassuring me that my stomach muscles are still in there somewhere. I am confident that after a few weeks (months) of doing this program that I will see results. The program is 30 minutes in length and I am super excited to keep practicing and learning these moves to perfection.
Advanced Pilates with Kathi Casey ($19.97) is designed for anyone who is looking for a more advanced pilates program. I admit that even though I did make it through the entire 30 minute program, I did take several breaks in the child’s yoga pose when necessary. This program combines “the traditional Pilates 100’s with the Roll Up and Teaser-working lateral, lower and upper abs, legs and buttocks at the same time.” I can’t wait until the day comes that I can easily get through the entire series of challenging exercises and can only imagine how healthy, fit and toned my body will look.
I found lots of very useful and helpful information on Kathi Casey’s website and recommend you take a few minutes to check it out yourself. I have experienced chronic lower back pain since having pregnancy complications and notice that Kathi Casey has a program that tackles this problem too. Anyhow who has suffered from lower back pain knows how limiting it can be to your everyday life. I can’t wait to learn more…………
