Book Review | The Boy Who Conquered Everest

Title: The Boy Who Conquered Everest: The Jordan Romero Story

Author: Katherine Blance

My Review:

The Boy Who Conquered Everest: The Jordan Romero Story by Katherine Blanc with Jordan Romero is an inspirational true account of a young boy who dreamed of climbing Mount Everest and by following his dream accomplished it at the age of 14. This is such a unique and interesting book for children because my own five year old son was able to relate to this story in such a way that he feels confident to pursue his own dreams.

When Jordan Romero was only nine years old he noticed a map of the famous “Seven Summits”, the tallest mountains on Earth. Four years later, he stood on top of the summit of Mount Everest at 29,035 feet. This is his story………….

The Boy Who Conquered Everest: The Jordan Romero Story is the proud recipient of the 2010 Moonbeam Children’s Book Award. The use of actual photographs dispersed among the text really brings this book to life and I watched my children’s eyes grow wide as they envisioned the magnitude of young Jordan’s accomplishment. I enjoyed reading this book with my children as much as they enjoyed learning about Jordan Romero and his journey.

I can only hope that they grow up to be as brave as young Jordan and have the courage to pursue their own dreams. To reserve your copy of The Boy Who Conquered Everest: The Jordan Romero Story or to learn more about Jordan Romero you are invited to visit their website which includes an interesting video account of his vision to climb to the summit of Mount Everest.
