Battle Bands Review
My three little ones love those silicone bracelets that are all the rage but sometimes they can be a little too “girly” according to my five year old son. Battle Bands™ is especially attractive to those “macho” young boys who love to “collect, stretch and destroy” and what kid doesn’t? Battle Bands™ is a fun twist for boys (and girls) because it has 70 collectible bands and matching trading cards. Each pack includes elastic Battle Bands, Warrior Cards and a Battle Mat (in the Rumble & Starter pack). Players use their bands to “battle” on the battle mat gaming piece by launching them at the board and winners are based on where the bands land and “individual strength”.
When writing this review, I wasn’t sure whether to write the “all out” truth of how I was able to gather information about the product but decided it really does show how appealing these Battle Bands™ are to young boys…..so here it goes. I received a sample of Battle Bands™ to try out and I always put my review items in a special place. When my mail arrived I placed the opened package on the kitchen counter and went to do another quick errand…..when I returned about 10 minutes later to get the Battle Bands™ it wasn’t where I left it. After a quick head scratch and thoughts that I might be losing it, I heard yelling and screaming in the kid’s play room. The “ah ha” moment came when I entered the room and found my five year old son, our six year old neighbor and my younger kids sitting around playing their own made up version of Battle Bands™ and having a blast. I sat down in a chair and just watched them interact together while having so much fun. No, they didn’t know the exact rules of the game then but what made it so appealing to me is watching them use their imaginations and creativity. When I asked why they took it without my permission, they sheepishly apologized and said “We thought it was for us and boy is it FUN!”
For the past two weeks my son and his friend have been playing with their Battle Bands™ together in the afternoon. I can only imagine that for kids a bit older that can follow the rules for this game that it would be even more fun. Battle Bands™ are sold at Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target and other stores nationwide.
