My Review:

I have been looking forward to seeing this movie since it came out in theatres this summer! I LOVED National Treasure and am a HUGE Nicolas Cage fan! I watched it with high hopes and I was not disappointed. It was excellent- fast paced, lots of action and humour! John and I were laughing at various points throughout the movie. My favourite scene was with David (the apprentice) and his dog Hank, the cutest dog EVER! David was frantically trying to clean his lab before his date shows up and nothing is working in his favour. Hank isn’t helping matters and doesn’t seem to care what David is trying to accomplish and just casually urinates on the floor!! I was cracking up laughing with John looking at me a bit weird. Oh well, to each his own right! Then David works his magic and has the brooms and mops doing the work for his work for him and made them clean and dance around. It was very entertaining to watch! I actually remember this scene from the cartoon.

The special effects were amazing! Think blue lightning bolts coming from your hands and mirror shields and don’t forget the high speed chase where Balthazar and David drive through a mirror and then are on the other side looking at themselves (hard to explain so you will just have to watch). My favourite scenes with magic were at the climax of the movie. I was on the edge of my seat at that point anticipating what would be happening next.

Along with the action and magic, there was also a little romance sprinkled in as David finally meets his dream girl. He had a crush on her since he was 10 years old. He’s a quirky guy, but I can see his appeal. I thought they made a cute couple.

This is a great family movie that was both fast paced and fun to watch. Loved it!
