Book Review | The Real Princess A Mathemagical Tale

I am a huge fan of stories that inspire my children’s imaginations and that makes Barefoot Books one of my personal favorites when selecting new books. Just in time for the holidays and over the next few days, I am thrilled to introduce you to ten favorite Barefoot Books that would make excellent holiday gifts.

The first Barefoot Books review, “The Real Princess: A Mathemagical Tale” is a favorite of my four year old daughter.

“1 Butler, 2 footmen, 3 princes and how many mattresses?”

“The Real Princess: A Mathemagical Tale” is written by Brenda Williams, illustrated by Sophie Fatus and narrated by Juliet Stevenson. It is a charming twist on the Princess and the Pea and includes lots of math fun along the way. My kids were counting and having fun throughout this entire fairy tale. This is a story that really allows you to interact with your young child and has different opportunities to explore numbers and counting. The illustrations are colorful and whimsical and really bring this fairy tale to life.

I really appreciate that the soft cover edition of “The Real Princess: A Mathmagical Tale” includes a narrated CD so when my daughter wants to listen to this story over and over again, I can allow her to listen to the narration while “reading” along in the book. It includes an extra page-turn track for beginning readers which is perfect because even though she can’t read yet she is still visualizing the letters and words while listening to the CD version.

“The Real Princess: A Mathmagical Tale” soft cover book including CD is only $9.99 or the Hardcover Edition is on sale for only $13.99 from the original retail price of $16.99. To purchase your copy for the special princess in your life go to Barefoot Books.

P.S. My son won’t admit it but he often sits in to listen to this story too……..
