Title: 17 Christmases

Author: Dandi Daley Mackall

My Review:

Do you travel a lot during the holidays? If so, then you will really enjoy the children’s book 17 Christmases by Dandi Daley Mackall. In this story, a family decides to take a road trip across the United States for the holidays starting off in North Carolina and ending up back home in Kentucky. My little ones got excited when the family visited Ohio since they recently took a trip there to visit their grandparents. I appreciated the references to Jesus and spirituality because I am teaching my own children this important message as to why we celebrate the holidays. When it is included as a message within a children’s holiday story it opens the discussion to the “true meaning of Christmas.” The illustrations by Michele Noiset are colorful and cheerful and bring charm and whimsy to characters in 17 Christmases. My children enjoyed the large pictures in this full size book and 17 Christmases was a holiday hit in our family. 17 Christmases is recommended for children ages 4-7 but my own three year old liked it a lot too.
