Angel Eden's Blog

Today I would like to welcome Abi from Angel Eden. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

My name is Abi and I am one half of the jewellery design team Angel Eden. I am a work at home mum to three children (including a set of twins). I love history, architecture, the English countryside and I think this is reflected in our work. Plus I am a bit addicted to cups of tea and slices of cake (these tend to feature too in our designs).

Please tell me about your blog.

I like to think of it as a lifestyle blog, I write crafty/arty tips, tutorials, reviews, recipes, day trips out, anything that I feel ‘fits’. I have a lot of fun writing the blog, taking pics and talking to my readers.

How long have you been blogging?

Technically I have been blogging since Nov 2009, although I feel I only really found my feet in the last 3-4 months.

How did you get started?

I started initially as a means of writing down all the ideas that tend to float about in my head, I also wanted to feature other perhaps largely unknown artists.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

So far I have featured craft books and cookery products. I have so much fun testing these out and telling my readers about them. Much better than reading the back of a packet. I also talk about materials needed to make various crafty projects.

What was your favourite giveaway?

Definitely my current giveaway, I love the cupcake pendant and our new treasure pockets are such fun. I still use the original prototype daily.

Who does your blog appeal to?

I would say it appeals to mainly creative people. Although I get emails from readers who say they love the photographs and reading about our adventures. If you like magazines like Country Living, SewHip or Antiques then you will probably enjoy my blog.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I think the future of the blog will be really exciting. I hope to continue posting new and inspiring tutorials. I would like to review more crafty/cookery books/products as these seem to really appeal to my readers. I can only see bright things ahead.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

Probably getting it started. When you’re faced with a blank page and no followers it’s seems a large hill to climb. Once it caught a bit of momemtum though I have been amazed at the response I’ve received.

What do you love about blogging?

Being able to share my thoughts and ideas, to write and not only have people read my ramblings but to actually appreciate them. If I wasn’t blogging I’d still be creating but I’d have no one to share it with. I also love when readers leave me comments, it’s a real lift to know your posts are read and liked.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

The occasional spam comment can be annoying. But other than that I haven’t had much cause for complaint.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

Make sure you read the instructions of any giveaway, mine is very quick and easy to enter, just follow and comment on the giveaway. But I’m still surprised when some people miss a step. As for newbie reviewers I would say start by reviewing what you know, products you have about your house and so on until you’ve become a bit more well known.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

I love Felt Me Up’s Blog, I have two of her felt birds which she made for me and I adore seeing the new next inhabitants

I read All About The Boy’s Blog often as she has such lovely giveaways, I’ve even been lucky enough to win one 🙂

Ready Set Pitch is a wonderful blog which I read often

I also love the LinenCat her designs are just gorgeous!

I follow a lot of blogs and they are all great and offer something different.
