Quaker Journey to Wellness Campaign
Since developing chronic pain five years ago, I certainly have become more aware of my body and taking steps to care for it. I am in no way perfect in this regard and still have many areas of my life that I need to work on. Wellness to me means taking steps to improve the quality of your life. They can be baby steps like cutting out the sugar in your coffee or switching to sugar free peanut butter for your morning toast. I have made many small adjustments like these over the years, but I know that I still have a long way to go.
On a personal level, I would like to work on my stress management. Stress can send me into a state of pain at the drop of a hat. I know I don’t effectively manage it properly. I’d love to be able to just let things go and not worry. I know that meditation and deep breathing exercises are helpful and I’d really like to put both into practice.
On a family level, I’d love to be able to make healthier meals and know this takes some extra planning on my part. I need to set the time aside each week and prepare a menu plan for the week. If I have all the ingredients on hand and know what I am making, it shouldn’t be that hard to do right?
