The Adventures of Scuba Jack Review
My kids absolutely love the new DVD in The Adventures of Scuba Jack educational series for ages 2-6. Since I am homeschooling my three children who are in preschool and kindergarten, I am always keeping my eye out for high quality learning materials. What I didn’t expect from The Adventures of Scuba Jack’s “Coastline Critters” is that it would be fun and educational for me too. “Coastline Critters” stars Scuba Jack and Professor Galaxy as they go the Seacoast Science Museum and the beach to learn fun facts about “coastline critters.”
We learned about hermit crabs, mussels and sea urchins among others and my children were captivated for the entire show. As native Floridians we spend lots of time at the beach and they have always been curious about sea creatures. This is really good supplemental material for unit studies, science lessons and more. There is even a curriculum that accompanies each of the DVD’s and can be downloaded for free on The Adventures of Scuba Jack website. I had been afraid that this DVD would be somewhat cheesy but it wasn’t and it wasn’t patronizing either. The information was presented in an interesting manner that is also engaging for young children. There was a neat puzzle feature where the children had to try to guess what it is and then it comes to life. My children were shouting away and got so excited when my daughter guessed, “Sea Star” correctly. This was one of their parts of the“Coastline Critters” DVD.
Paco the Pelican is another cute puppet character that was a favorite with my children and he taught my children their colors in Spanish.
My favorite part of The Adventures of Scuba Jack “Coastline Critters” is that it is interactive and engaging. My three year said, “I can say ‘rojo’ in Spanish mama, that’s red you know….listen to my lessons because I am smart today?” I also love that parents and educators can download free learning activities and crafts that support the DVD’s. My kids loved the printable worksheets, online games and more.
You can watch the trailer for “Coastline Critters”.
The Adventures of Scuba Jack has a product line of learning activity books that include worksheets, crafts and activities. My son got so excited when he sat down to work in his Pirates book, my daughter loved the Fairies book and my youngest son wanted to discover activities in the Dinosaur book.
I was very impressed with the quality of each book and the activities were not the normal “coloring book” pages. For example, my kids were able to create their own pirate mask and dancing puppets.
You can learn more about the creation of The Adventures of Scuba Jack online and purchase your copy of “Coastline Critters” or any of the books in the series. These would make fantastic and fun gift ideas for any preschooler or elementary age school kids. In fact, I think kids up to age 8 or 9 would really enjoy the learning activity books because the activities are really neat. If you are a mom of a young child and are looking for ways to make learning fun then I highly recommend this series of DVD’s and Learning Activity Books by The Adventures of Scuba Jack.
