Southern Girl Bakery Review

If I could spend the holidays in one person’s kitchen this year, it would be that of Lori Vaughn. On her Etsy site she sells beautifully frosted cookies and buttery caramel corn that tastes just as amazing as it is aesthetically pleasing. Baking sugar cookies is not an easy task; I tried a few years ago using a recipe I found on the back of my sugar bag and unfortunately they did not turn out as well as I had expected. I haven’t attempted to make another sugar cookie on my own since.

Southern Girl Bakery, Lori Vaughn’s Etsy store, features a wide variety of sugar cookies designed for the holidays and the important events in your life (baby showers, office parties, etc.). Right now for the Christmas season, Lori is baking angels, stockings, snowmen, candy canes, bells, reindeer, and more for all of your holiday needs.

I got to sample some of Lori’s Blues Mix Flowers (cookie bites), Cupcake Party (cookie bites), and Buttery Caramel Corn. Each small bag of goodies came bundled in a see-through bag and a ribbon to match the colors of the frosting that she uses. The frosting even had a slight shimmer to it. I simply loved them. The cookies–especially the cupcakes–were artistically decorated, and had a lovely vanilla flavor. The texture was just right; the cookies were soft with a satisfying crunch. They weren’t crumbly and were baked to perfection. The caramel corn was nice and fluffy, the caramel rich and sweet. It melted in my mouth and didn’t stick in my teeth. It’s the best kind of caramel there is! I kept sneaking back into the kitchen for another cookie or mouthful of caramel corn until each and every morsel was gone within a few short hours.

What also makes Lori’s Etsy store great is that you get to choose your batter flavors; it does vary a little, so be sure to check out the product listings for more information. Lori also monograms select cookies and lets you choose the frosting color on some items.

The prices vary depending on which type of cookie you order, the lowest cost being around $9.00 or $10.00 for the cookie bites (for 5 dozen) up to about $29.00 for 1 dozen. The caramel corn contains 2 quarts for $6.00. Your order is shipped USPS Priority Mail, and you’ll receive your order in about 2-3 days.

If you are looking for something exciting and different to offer your holiday company or favorite co-workers, I hope you’ll contact Lori and place an order today.
