Razor Reach Review
I am not crazy about the bathroom situation in our house. We have 2 bathrooms- one upstairs and one downstairs. The upstairs bathroom has one of those old-fashioned bathtubs, but no shower. The downstairs bathroom has only a stand-up shower. I shower every day, but find it such a pain to try and shave my legs in the shower. What I had been doing was shaving them in the upstairs bathroom first and then have a shower after. I would hoist one leg up on the toilet seat and bend over and shave. I always had trouble reaching around to do the back and would often nic myself.
I guess I wasn’t the only one in the world with shaving issues because there’s actually a product made for people like me with stand-up showers. It’s called the Razor Reach. It’s actually an extension system that allows you to shave your legs without the need to bend or strain. It’s also useful for people with arthritis or injuries as well as for pregnant women! I remember when I was pregnant with my girls I couldn’t even bend to tie my shoes. My husband would have to shave my legs for me! He didn’t like doing it so I often went out looking more hairy than normal. This would have been the perfect tool for me to have back then and save myself some embarrassment!
I tried out the Razor Reach and so far it’s been great! I like not having to hunch over the toilet and hurt my back and pelvis. I also like being able to shave in the shower. It comes in four pieces that you have to put together. It has a universal head that will fit most razors, an extension arm that reaches 12 inches, a soft grip handle and an adapter clip if you use straight razors. I figured out how to put it together on my own and didn’t find it very hard.
I was able to reach down the back of my leg much easier than if I was hunched over the toilet. The razor stayed firmly in place with the adapter. The directions say to use downward pressure when shaving. When I did this it worked like a charm. At first, I didn’t get how to use it and was moving all over the place, but it didn’t take me long to get the hang of it.
The Razor Reach with the 12 inch extension is $14.99 and can be purchased from the Razor Reach site or at QVC, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Duane Reade Inc. It also comes in 18 inch extension ($18.99) or buy the 6 inch extension for $4.99.
This would make an excellent gift for a pregnant friend or family member. I’ll be continuing to use mine in my stand up shower.
