Title: The Naturals

Author: Sharon Petersen

My Review:

The Naturals, a children’s book written by Sharon Petersen and illustrated by Georgina Walton is a delightful collection of 10 stories that inspire children to “respect, revere and protect our Natural World.” The Naturals will appeal to children of all ages between the ages of 4-10 and even the young at heart like me too. We selected one heartwarming story per day for our family reading time and each of us could relate to a particular story from the caring Mother Earth, to the always dependable and helpful Sunny to the wise Moony. It is very importantly to me to instill in my children a sense of pride and wonder of our natural world and The Naturals just made my job that much easier. My children become involved with each story asking one question after another. The author’s intention was “to show that not only is our natural world alive and compassionate, but that it has our best interests at heart at all times.” Mrs. Petersen succeeded in that The Naturals allows compassion and moral character shine through each story. The illustrations by Georgina Walton perfectly reflect the author’s words and bring the story to life. If you or your child has an interest in the earth and nature then this is an excellent book to add to your collection.
