Blog Spotlight | The Coupon Challenge
Today I would like to welcome Dana from The Coupon Challenge. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
I am a wife and mother of 2 energetic kids. My son is 6 and my daughter is 3. I got into coupons as a way to save my family money and it has turned into my passion. I love walking out of the store with bags of free or cheap grocerys, spending $20 for over $100 worth of clothes and finding free family entertainment.
Please tell me about your blog.
My blog is all about challenging you to spend your hard-earned dollars wisely. I provide links to coupons, free offers, store matchups (I personally cover Farm Fresh, Harris Teeter, Walgreen’s and CVS), frugal living tips, recipes and freezer cooking, free/cheap events, reviews and giveaways and much more!
How long have you been blogging?
I’m a new blogger. My first post was in January of 2010.
How did you get started?
I was always emailing out deals to friends and family. I felt like I was bombarding their inboxes with deals (which I was). I started the site as a place for them to view deals at their leisure, but it has become so much more.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
I feature family-friendly products; products for children/moms, food/beverage, money/time saving, and household.  I’m not really limiting myself since I’m a new blogger. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to actively seek reviews.
What was your favorite giveaway?
I loved a gift card that I received to see how many Box Tops I could collect. I also enjoyed a review and giveaway from Scentsy. I found a great new product, and I’m supporting a mommy business.
Who does your blog appeal to?
My readers are mostly women, and many have children. I have been excited to find that more men are following the site. I’ve received several emails from younger men trying to save money. They are all looking to live a better life on a small budget.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I hope it continues to move upward. I want my readership to increase and to be able to provide more ways for my readers (and myself) to stretch their dollars.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
The time. I didn’t realize how much time and energy blogging would take. It’s hard to fit in blogging time around my husband, kids and household. I’m working on finding a balance.
What do you love about blogging?
I love knowing that I’m helping to make a difference in other people’s lives. It’s amazing when someone tells me how much they saved at the grocery store or paid off a debit. The people I’ve met are amazing; bloggers and readers alike. It’s just such a great community to be a part of.
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
The auto-save on blogger. I love that it saves for me, but once my post starts getting really long, it auto saves about every 10 seconds. Drives me nuts!
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?
Leave an email so you can be contacted if you win. Blogger profiles are great, but you must make sure you have your email address public. A winner of a recent giveaway lost out because I couldn’t email her when she won. I posted the winner but she didn’t see it.
I’m the newbie review blogger that needs the advice. I just joined up with the PR Directory here on Simply Stacie, so hopefully that will help. I’ve been a member of Business 2 Blogger, The Product Review Place and My Blog Spark.
Tell me some of your favorite blogs that you read.
Money Saving Mom, Life as Mom, Deal Seeking Mom, Simply Stacie, SITS, too many to mention.
How can people find you?
