Sweep Tight

Today I would like to welcome Jen from Sweep Tight. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

My name is Jennifer, but I usually go by Jen or Jennie.  I was born in 1978 and grew up in a south suburb of Chicago.  I still live very close to where I was raised.  I am a partner in my family’s heating and air conditioning business and I work in the office as a secretary.  I live with my wonderful boyfriend, Mike and our dog, Hilo.  I love my life!  🙂

Please tell me about your blog.

My blog started off as a way to share sweepstakes with my friends and family.  Every time I win something, they always ask me how I did it and to share the links with them.  I figured a blog would be a great way to do that.  Eventually, I began to make new blogger friends and learned more about this whole blogging world.  Along with sweepstakes, I also post money-saving ideas, ways to earn some extra cash online, product reviews and giveaways and anything else I feel is worth sharing.

How long have you been blogging?

Since the end of February 2010.

How did you get started?

I started entering sweepstakes as a hobby several years ago.  People constantly ask for details about this hobby every time they hear about me winning something.  I originally tried to start a website as a way to share tips and links to the sweepstakes I enter.  I got really frustrated and actually stumbled upon a blog by accident.  After looking into it more, I realized that a blog was perfect for what I wanted to do.  I now have a place to send people who are interested in what I do.  I never expected to find myself a part of an entire blogosphere that I never knew existed and it’s so wonderful!

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I do not personally have any products, but I love reviewing all kinds of products.  Check out some of my reviews HERE.

What was your favourite giveaway?

Cellfire gave me the opportunity to give away a $100 gift card for the grocery store of the winner’s choice.  That got me lots of attention.  I loved coming home to tons of comments to approve.  I love comments, so that was a lot of fun!

Who does your blog appeal to?

People who like to enter sweepstakes, giveaways, save money and other various internet activities.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I would love to do more product reviews and giveaways.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

I need to figure out how to balance my time more efficiently between work, blogging, household chores, etc.  Oh, and exercise needs to fit in there, too, considering I have gained 10 pounds since I started blogging!

What do you love about blogging?

I love having my own little spot to talk about whatever I want.  I have met some really great people through blogging.  I also LOVE reading blogs.  There are so many talented people out there and you just never know what you can find people blogging about.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

I really hate captchas.  I understand that they are there to prevent spammers, but they suck.  Just unapprove the spam comments and save your readers the hassle.  Actually, it’s the ones that pop up after you think you are done commenting that really annoy me.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

Just please read my mandatory entry.  I am a stickler for the rules.  🙂

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

I read all of Simply Stacie’s posts.  I am not just saying that because I am being featured.  I am truly impressed with how much she does!  Some of my other favorites, among many, are:  The Eclectic Element, Review Retreat, Leslie Loves Veggies and Champagne Living.  There are so many more, too!
