Blog Spotlight | MaeGal’s Fashion

Today I would like to welcome Mae from Maegal’s Fashion. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

Well, my name is Sarah and I’m 18 years old. I’ve lived in Washington State all 18 years. I just recently graduated from High School and a two-year college program where I received my AA Degree. Not to brag, I’m just proud of myself and wanted to share. I’ll be going on to University next year. I’m not entirely sure what I’ll major in. I like journalism, fashion, photography, blogging, reading, liberal arts, the internet and traveling.

Please tell me about your blog.

Though I have two blogs, one is still very new. My older and slightly more read blog is fashion biased. I talk about trends, style and other related topics. I really enjoy fashion and although I don’t really dress the part, I still love it. I enjoy the art factor is has.

How long have you been blogging?

I just looked back and my first post was published on Sunday, March 29th, 2009. So I guess I’ve been blogging a little over a year, though it started out slow.

How did you get started?

I never had much of an interest in fashion when I was younger, as no one I knew really did. One day I was online and I came across a fashion blog. From there I really started to enjoy blogs, specifically fashion blogs. Then I eventually decided that I would start my own fashion blog and see how it went.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I feature clothing and accessories of all kinds. Fashion related items, really.

What was your favourite giveaway?

I’ve only had one very small giveaway a long while ago. It was for a necklace and I never heard back from the person who received it. I don’t think I even posted the winner on my blog, I’m not even sure I ran that giveaway though my blog. I’m currently working on a makeup giveaway that will be larger and will be featured on makeup blog as well as my fashion blog. I would love to have more reviews/giveaway. They are so much fun.

Who does your blog appeal to?

I think my blog appeals mainly to teens, but also to fashionable adults. It appeals to anyone interested in fashion, trends and style.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I would love for my blog to become more popular. Currently, I don’t have my followers. I’m hoping my giveaway will attract attention. I would love to get enough traffic to monetize my blog, sure, but mainly to have enough traffic to really have fun with it.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

I think my biggest challenge is producing quality posts consistently, even when I’m not getting a lot of feedback on work.

What do you love about blogging?

I love writing posts and helping people with fashion. I do get occasional comments from people saying how my post has helped them figure out what to wear, for example, to the beach. I like lending a helping hand and providing entertainment.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

Nothing that I can think of right now. I’m sure there is something, though.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

Once I get my giveaway going, I’ll encourage them to get as many entries they can to increase their chances. Review blogging isn’t something I’m doing (yet) on this blog (though I would love to review a clothing brand/item/store/etc.), but on my makeup blog I do reviews. My suggestion is to keep reviews short and to the point, yet detailed. Give readers the information they want, but don’t bore them.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

Fashion and makeup blogs, really. I like Spiced Beauty, The Stylish Wanderer, College Fashion.Net, What I Wore, Paper Fashion, Makeup Diary Confessions and many, many more.

How can people find you?

People can find me everywhere. I’m an internet addict. Haa. These are my main links, however.
