Blog Spotlight | Busy Working Mama

Today I would like to welcome Aleksandra from Busy Working Mama. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

I’m a 30-something working mother living in the Atlanta, GA suburbs. I was born in Poland and moved the US when I was 7. I lived in Chicago up to about 10 years ago when my husband dragged me down south. I work full time and manage financial reporting and investor relations for a publicly traded company. My daughter Lily is nearly three, and my life pretty much revolves around her and my husband during my free time. I love to cook and get my daughter involved in meal preparation. We also enjoy gardening and spending time outside. I like running, throwing parties, and organizing fun events with friends and families. I also love the beach and we try to vacation there whenever we can.

Please tell me about your blog.

I host a review and giveaway blog and also write about my life and family, favorite recipes and gardening. I started composting this year and am following the progress of the new compostable SunChips bag in my compost tumbler.

How long have you been blogging?

I started in late January of 2010.

How did you get started?

I have been entering sweepstakes as a hobby for many years, and I came across a blog giveaway in late 2009. At first I was pretty confused about how to enter but then I quickly discovered the world of blogging and thought – this looks like fun! I want to try this! I think it is important to learn and try new things, and I have learned a lot since I started blogging.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I try to have a mix of kids, family and women’s products. I am a lotion and potion junkie so I am drawn to any beauty products. I also love to have my daughter review items. Lastly, I love jewelry and handmade items. I also like supporting mom-made or women-made products and companies.

What was your favourite giveaway?

My favorite giveaway was a purse from Blue Calla’s Etsy shop. Since this giveaway, I have become good (online) friends with Celine, the owner. Too bad she lives all the way up in Canada or we could have a playdate with our 2 year olds!

Who does your blog appeal to?

I think primarily women (mothers or grandmothers).

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I’m going to keep plugging along as I have been for now. I have lots of fun ideas, just little time to actually implement them.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

My biggest challenge has been finding the time to blog and managing various projects. It is definitely a time-consuming endeavor!

What do you love about blogging?

I like being the owner of my blog and feeling proud of my creation. I enjoy sharing something about my life with others. I enjoy helping other bloggers and sharing tips whenever I can. I also love to send the “you are a winner!” email to giveaway winners. Lastly, I like following other blogs, seeing pictures of families, reading book reviews, getting ideas for fun family activities and printing off new recipes.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

Disorganization and too many flashing ads turn me off of any website or blog. For giveaway blogs, I like to see a “current giveaway” list on the side and easy navigation.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

For those entering giveaways – there are a ton out there, and you can win even with one entry. For new bloggers, don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice. I have found the blogging world to be a wonderful community.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

I love to enter giveaways so I follow a TON of giveaway blogs. I also love foodie/recipe blogs and book blogs.

How can people find you?

My email and other social media links are on my blog. I’m a blackberry-addict and always checking email.
