Songbird Station & Songbird Essentials Review

I saw a female cardinal for the first time in our backyard…I never realized that the females are not bright red in color as are the male cardinals. Then I noticed that they had a nest in our bottle brush tree. My husband and I love to sit on our porch in the morning while drinking a cup of coffee and watching the birds eat and sing.

In Florida it is very difficult to find a bird feeder that does not rot in the intense heat and rainy season. I found the perfect recycled plastic bird feeder with sloped tray at Songbird Essentials. It looks just like a wooden bird feeder but is very sturdy and we don’t have to worry about it falling apart after just one season. It can accommodate almost all types of birds and holds 1.5 quarts of seed. I also like that it will be easy to keep clean and disinfected as needed.

My husband hung up the bird feeder in another bottle brush tree in our backyard. We also added a seed hoop by SeedHoop which catches up to 90% of falling or dropped seeds to protect your yard and more importantly keeps birds safe from ground predators and keeps the food source away from rodents. It was very easy to attach to the bird feeder by hooks and indeed it caught the fallen seeds really well. It is very lightweight and folds up and collapses for easy storage when not in use. The Seed Hoop can attach to almost any style of bird feeder.

The first birds to visit our new bird feeder to dine on a gourmet seed meal was a pair of doves. My kids got so excited and we enjoyed watching the doves eat for over 10 minutes. I am thrilled with our new bird feeding set. My five year old son was so fascinated that he asked for a hummingbird feeder for Christmas (he had watched a special on the nature channel).
