Preschool is Cool Series “Counting with Elmo” DVD Review

Two of my three children are being homeschooled for pre-school and my eldest is in kindergarten. Sesame Street has been a reliable friend in my home since I was a little girl. The programming now is just as excellent and I feel good that my own children are learning from their favorite “friends” on Sesame Street.

Sesame Workshop and Warner Home Video have recently released Preschool is Cool: Counting with Elmo on DVD. This is the second title in the new educational preschool program. Counting with Elmo introduces Professor Grover (my all time favorite Sesame Street character) and Elmo, the loveable 3 ½ year old red monster, who will help him during the counting lesson in a real preschool. I love the humor that has Professor Grover having some trouble remembering his numbers and it is Elmo and the preschool class to the rescue. My own three kids wanted to help too and were shouting out answers to poor Professor Grover throughout the show. My daughter loved the song, “Abby’s Sparkle Speckle Freckles” and my boys boogied to “Counting Booth.”

I really appreciated the early math skills including number recognition, counting and enumeration. There is even a skit about skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. It helps children to learn that “the purpose of counting is to determine the total number of things in an overall set.”

Preschool is Cool: Counting with Elmo on DVD is another exceptional title released by Sesame Workshop and Warner Home Video. This is sure to be a beloved and much requested DVD by any Sesame Street fan.

Preschool Is Cool: Counting With Elmo can be purchased at major retailers near you or online where it is currently on sale for only $11.99 and is eligible for free super saver shipping.
