Fantastic Sams Review

I love shampoo. I love the smells, the different textures, the various colors, and most of all I love experimenting with new shampoos. In high school and college I had at least 3 different brands of shampoo and conditioner sitting on my shelves. It was only as I got older that I started to pay attention to the ingredients in the shampoos and conditioners as well as their effects on my hair, and I started to look for products that were more quality based.

These days, I only have 1 or 2 bottles of each in my shower and I was running low on what I had when the opportunity came up to try Fantastic Sams new moisturizing shampoo and conditioner as well as a nourishing serum. Because I blow dry and style with heat tools nearly every day, my hair really needs all the help it can get to stay looking healthy and feeling soft and silky. As an added bonus, I was even sent a bottle of the conditioning masque.

The shampoo and the conditioner had a really nice scent to it, but not one I recognized. I looked it up on the Fantastic Sams website to discover it is a papaya scent. The bottles are long and skinny and contain 12 fl. oz. of product. Though the bottles look exactly alike, I can tell which is the shampoo and which is the conditioner by the color of the lid. That actually saves me a lot of time in the shower; I don’t have to pick up the bottle to read the label, only then to discover I’ve grabbed the wrong one. I really can’t tell you how many times I’ve grabbed one thinking it was the other, and then wasted product because I didn’t want to double condition.

I noticed a difference in my hair after the first use. I have always had a love/hate relationship with my hair. Stylists and friends have always found my hair easy to style, but I constantly fight with it. My hair did almost exactly what I expected of it; I found it easier to round brush it dry in the shape I wanted, as well as straighten it to my desired specifications with a flat iron. Both the shampoo and the conditioner are gentle enough for daily use, which is another plus. My hair often gets oily and greasy looking by the next day, but with the Fantastic Sams moisturizing shampoo and conditioner it hasn’t looked that way at all the next morning. If I want to, I can skip a day of shampooing and conditioning and still have great looking hair.

After washing, I applied the nourishing serum. Just a little goes a long way–using too much can make hair look greasy and oily. I really think the nourishing serum contributed to the reduction of my fly-aways and frizz. I’ve used other products similar to this in the past, and will choose this one when my current container runs out.

One week of blow drying and using hot tools really takes a toll on hair, so I have always loved deep conditioning. The Fantastic Sam’s moisturizing masque replaces the regular conditioner once a week. I left it on for up to 3 minutes and then rinsed and styled as usual. I didn’t notice a difference in my hair, but someone else did. The day after I’d used the masque, my husband complimented my hair and said it looked really nice and shiny when we were out to dinner.

I really love this new line of products from Fantastic Sams. We have a salon just a few blocks away, and I will definitely be visiting it when I run out. I may just stop in for a cut and style, too! I remember using the salon years ago and always getting a cut that looked great.
