Book Review: The Body Fat Solution

Body fat. Now that’s a problem that I wish I could fix. Who doesn’t?
With Tom Venuto’s The Body Fat Solution, I might be able to make some headway. If nothing else, perhaps his chapter on “Body Fat Myths and Why We Believe Them” will start to make a difference. For instance, there’s the “Some people are diet-resistant and can’t lose weight” myth. Not that I would (no, never) fall prey to that one. How about “Carbohydrates make you fat” or “Your genetics are why you are overweight” or “Dietary fat makes you gain body fat”? Who doesn’t believe those?
The Body Fat Solution tackles the problem from all angles. It advises how to end emotional eating and gives you guidance in re-training your mind so that you start to think about food, eating, and dieting in a whole different manner. Make sure you pay close attention to Chapter Six, “The High-Low Nutrition Solution.” It’s about how, when, and what to eat.
Moving on, you’ll find chapters on exercise (with plenty of pictures to make it easy!) and fat-burning, and social support systems. Venuto then ties it all together, and makes it a workable program for your life, for today and down the road.
This book is a wealth of knowledge. It provides a good mix of scientific information and easy-to-understand language. If you’re ready to tackle this problem and make a serious effort toward finding a solid, long-term solution, thenThe Body Fat Solution will be invaluable. This is not a quick-fix nor is it a miracle cure. It really works to change you from the inside out. Tom Venuto sets out to revamp your thinking, your attitude, and your belief system, but it will only work if you work it.
