Book Review | Living Without Reservations
Author: Barbara Elaine Singer
Living Without Reservations: A Journey by Land and Sea in Search of Happiness by Barbara Singer is a work of non-fiction that inspires everyone who has a dream for the future to instead take a leap of faith and start living your dreams now. The author shares her very personal story of living an idyllic life in Central Florida….complete with the “perfect” home, career and family. When she unexpectedly falls in love with another man while still married and then experiences a tragedy, she impulsively decides to embark on her passion for traveling the world. The story begins with my favorite adventure…a trip by R.V. from Pennsylvania to Alaska with her father and then it’s off to the Caribbean and Italy in a soul searching adventure seeking “freedom, adventure, travel and romance.”
I could easily relate to this story because I too live in Orlando, Florida, have experienced the pain of a loveless first marriage and dream about having the freedom to travel the country by R.V. with my husband. My #1 travel “dream” destination is without a doubt…. Alaska. I also appreciated that this was not a “perfect life” story that is neatly laid out. At times, the author exposes the rawness of emotions and life experiences that make the story so very real. In turn, there are moments in the book that are just plain fun. I really enjoyed reading this book and it also taught me to appreciate the moments that I have with my loved ones and to enjoy my life to the fullest in pursuit of my own dreams.
