Isn’t it funny how once we have kids everything we do revolves around them? Long gone are the days that you come home and relax and just put your feet up and worry about supper later. Now you have that supper time meal on your mind all day…”What I am I going to fee the family tonight that EVERYBODY will like?”
With obesity on the rise among children it is never too late to take a step back and rethink your attitude about food and kids. We have so many choices out there now for healthy snacks and meals that there really is no excuse for unhealthiness. Sure a box of Kraft Dinner is fine once in a while and yes…its so much easier to open a can then to to follow a recipe, but we can’t do it everyday.
I was super excited to review the Eat! Move! Play! book that Weight Watchers has put out. Its a Parents Guide for raising Healthy, Happy Kids. With over 75 recipes that are very simple to make and for the most part, kid friendly, you won’t have to worry about thinking of supper time every night or any meal. From desserts to drinks, to healthy meals you won’t be wondering at the end of the day..was that a healthy meal? Did they get all the food groups today?
Sadie would eat Kraft Dinner everyday if she was allowed so I wasn’t too sure how she would take the Crumb-Topped Mac ‘n’ Cheese on page 192. She LOVED it!!! Made with WW macaroni, chicken broth, and butternut squash puree I wasn’t too sure if she would or wouldn’t. (yes…there is other ingredients) Each recipe also gives you serving size with cal, fat, chol, sod., numbers and all the other facts you need.
This book doesn’t just have recipes in it. It has helpful articles about getting your kids moving and teaching them about taking care of themselves and why it is so important to eat right. This book is a parent must have.
