Blog Spotlight | Spiffykerms.com
Today I would like to welcome Nancy from spiffykerms.com. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
I’m a Graphic Designer who just so happens to love blogging. I live in South Western Ontario with my boyfriend of 5 years, and Pomeranian puppy. We’re a pretty athletic couple, I’m involved with soccer, and training for a 10k then Half Marathon, and my boyfriend is an Ironman Triathlete! Hardcore.
Please tell me about your blog.
I’m over at www.spiffykerms.com, not sure exactly where that nick-name came from but it’s been a keeper for many years. My blog caters to a lot of readers, and doesn’t just speak about one topic like fitness or food. I’m very diverse on my topics because if I stuck to one subject I think my blog wouldn’t last and I’d be dis-interested pretty quickly. I talk about my running regimen, I post some recipes with pictures that I have recently made, outfit of the days for work and weekends, I even have a second website which is linked on my main one – that gives people an opportunity to use coupons, how to use them and when.
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for over 10 years – with those geocities and freebie sites. I think I really started blogging on a regular basis in 2003/2004. Unfortunately I didn’t keep the archives and you can only read back until 2008.
How did you get started?
I had friends on the internet that started websites, and I thought since I’m on the wait-list for Graphic Design, maybe I too could design my own site – so I did.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
Makeup, Hair Straighteners, Curling Irons, Baby blankets, back packs, soda pop, Clothing, Etsy, Umbrellas…oh the list goes on! I love doing reviews.
What was your favourite giveaway?
Either my Lululemon or the High Sierra Backpacks. Super fun.
Who does your blog appeal to?
A very diverse group. I have a lot of readers who are really into reading my fitness routine and how I sometimes struggle. Others love my outfits of the days.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I’d like to get into doing bigger reviews for companies, and have more readership so that I can do that. A lot of people don’t want to sponsor small blogs like mine.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
Not knowing what to always post about, and wondering if my readers enjoy what I write.
What do you love about blogging?
I love interacting with the people who read my blog. I have created some great friendships!
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
- Too long entries
- Entries with no photos
- Negative nelly’s
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?
To enter my giveaways are pretty simple and don’t have to jump through too many hoops. Usually I just mention that they should comment with anything they want, but if they want additional entries they could post it on twitter, blog about it, etc.
Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.
