Blog Spotlight: Marlie and Me
Today I would like to welcome Teresha from Marlie and Me. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
I’m a 30-something (and dang proud of it!) stay-at-home-mommy to a soon-to-be 1-year-old girl. In my pre-mommy life I was a nonprofit executive which surprisingly did a lot to prepare me for motherhood like knowing how to produce miracles with limited resources.
Please tell me about your blog.
Marlie and Me is an extension of my pregnancy blog (Jamaican Bun in the Oven). After I gave birth, I wanted a place where I could share my experiences as a new mom, a stay-at-home mom, a breastfeeding mom, a cloth-diapering mom, etc… It’s not always roses and rainbows. I keep it real. My readers get the truth, and nothing but the truth.
How long have you been blogging?
It’s been going on for a year and a half.
How did you get started?
I started blogging when I became pregnant. We had just moved to a new city and I was home all day because I was jobless. At the time my blog meant for family and friends to stay updated on the baby, but soon me and other mommy bloggers found each other. It made me feel less lonely and homesick.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
I mostly do products for babies, especially natural and organic. I also like featuring products for moms, stuff that reminds us that we are women.
What was your favourite giveaway?
That’s tough! I’d have to say I liked hosting the Pooters Cloth Diaper giveaway because it gave someone the chance to try cloth diapers and hopefully switch
Who does your blog appeal to?
A lot of my readers are new mommies like me and they like reading about he products I’m using and Marlie’s developmental milestones. We compare notes and swap stories.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I’m toying with the idea of monetizing my blog. It would be awesome to work from home.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
I had a bad case of the blogging blues. This went on for a month. I didn’t feel like posting. I was worried that I would lose readers, but I didn’t force myself to post. I just let it work itself out and started blogging again when the time was right.
Do you have a blogging pet peeve?
Yes! I really dislike the anti-spam captcha. It prevents me from visiting more blogs because I don’t have the time to type in word verifications every five minutes
Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?
I make entry into my giveaways easy. I recommend that new Review bloggers contact some companies and sign up with facilitators like Pitch It To Me.
Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.
I like to mix it up: Help! Mama Remote, My Brown Baby, Suburban Sanity, What’s That Smell?, When Did I Become my Mom?
How can people find you?
I’m always at marlieandmommy.blogspot.com and friend me on Facebook…Teresha Freckleton-Petite
