Blog Spotlight | Chocolate & Croissants
Today I would like to welcome Esme from Chocolate & Croissants. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…
Please tell me about yourself.
I am an attorney who would love to be a writer working for a publishing company. As a child I always wanted to be an attorney-that or a flight attendant. Books, photography, cooking and seeing the world are my true passions. I live in Southern California with my husband and two kitties. I moved here from Canada for the weather and the beach. In the summer I am at the beach about 5 days a week-I love swimming in the ocean and playing in the waves. I am also a big cook-I cook dinner 6 nights a week and enjoy experimenting with new recipes. Cookbooks are my weakness-I have so many of them I feel that I must stop collecting them until I have made all the recipes at least once.
Please tell me about your blog.
Chocolate and Croissants is a food and book blog. It brings together two of my favorite hobbies.
How long have you been blogging?
I started blogging in the fall of 07-however in the past 18 months I have become much more dedicated to the blog.
How did you get started?
I had found all these great food blogs when I was searching for recipes and the idea of blogging appealed to me.
What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?
I feature books and kitchen gadgets that I think other people will like. I have read every book I featured and own all the gadgets that I talk about.
What was your favourite giveaway?
Michelle Moran’s book-Cleopatra’s Daughter-Michelle Moran is known in the book community and her book was quite anticipated. I along with my readers were looking forward to it’s release. I enjoyed corresponding with her, as she is quite an interesting author. She has travelled the world and her books are very well researched. Being able to correspond with one of my favorite authors was quite the bonus for me.
Who does your blog appeal to?
30 plus crowd-I am not a huge YA reader so most of my followers are older.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
Now that I have been doing this for awhile I see myself developing a theme. I want to tie in books to food-if a book is set in the South-then have recipes from the South-or if the book is set in India-offer an Indian them for the week.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
Figuring out what direction to take the blog and the whole tech aspect of the blog-I am tech illiterate and this aspect is very challenging to me.
What do you love about blogging?
All the friends I have made-I call them my virtual friends-I was married long before internet dating become in-vogue so I never did match.com or other sites-recently I went to BEA in NYC and stayed with four amazing women I had never met in person-blogging is the equivalent of internet dating without the weirdness. When I was NYC I went out to dinner with another blogger who lives in the city who I met through a non-book related blog. I also enjoy discovering other people’s blogs. There are some great ideas out there.
