Blog Spotlight | Because More is More

Today I would like to welcome Heather from Because More is More. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

I’ve been married for 15 1/2 years (gulp!), have one 5 1/2 year old daughter, & have been a SAHM since she was born.  I am addicted to Crystal Light Peach Iced tea, will watch anything on HGTV, have a laundry room like a CSI lab (I refuse to let any stain my child throws my way win the laundry battle), & am in desperate need of a pedicure.

Please tell me about your blog.

My goal is to help everyone save money while still meeting their needs.  In particular I like to introduce my readers to organic & eco friendly products & educate about why going green is so important.  However, I refuse to be preachy about it; no one wants a guilt complex from a blog, including myself.

How long have you been blogging?

Since late December 2009.

How did you get started?

I kept posting deals I would find on my personal Facebook wall.  Friend after friend kept telling me I should start a blog…so I did.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

Anything really, because you never know what someone will think is vital to their family. Any great organic or eco friendly deals certainly get mentioned. What was your favourite giveaway?  I really enjoyed the Fashion Playtes review & giveaway I did a few weeks ago.  Girls can log on to that site, design their own clothing, & have it shipped to them.  Surprisingly, that giveaway didn’t get a ton of entries.  I also loved the Ella’s Kitchen giveaway & the Kate Quinn Organics one.

Who does your blog appeal to?

Everyone is trying to save a buck these days.  But the majority of my readers are wives & mothers.  I always get a kick out of seeing men as fans or followers, though!

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I treat my blog as a business.  My goal is to increase traffic & develop a more loyal following, while still providing content people value.  If bigger & better giveaways come because of that, I consider that’s the icing on the cake.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

I would say my biggest challenge has been trying to find the time to dedicate to consistently blogging now that my daughter is home from school for the summer.  More often than not, I succeed (at least, I think so).

What do you love about blogging?

I am constantly researching; my mind never seems to shut off.  I have often heard things like “I know you know the answer to this question….” & I consider that a huge compliment.  I love that my blog allows me to share information with a larger group of people. Personally, I cannot think of anything more heart warming than helping others stretch their budgets during these difficult economic times.  And I love sharing about how families can make little eco friendly choices that can make a big global impact.  Every email & comment I get from readers thrills me & reminds me why I blog.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

I cannot stand bloggers who don’t embrace the unwritten rule of linking back to you if they repost something.  If you read it on another blog & post it, you give a shout out to the original blogger.  Just because we typically blog from home, doesn’t mean professional courtesy doesn’t apply.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway?

Keep checking back to see how many entries there are.  If the number is low, choose one of the other additional methods & increase your odds of winning. Newbie review bloggers? Network.  Don’t be afraid to email your favorite bloggers & ask for ideas, feedback, tips.  You may not get an answer from all of them, but even if a few answer you, you’ll gain invaluable information.

Tell me some of your favourite blogs that you read.

Simply Stacie, of course!  Seriously, you have the best information for bloggers; I always find great articles to read.  Other deal blogs I love are Hip2Save, Mama Cheaps, & Organic Deals & Coupons to name a few.

How can people find you?

At my blog or on Facebook at  Or you could try shining a light in the sky like they did to summon Batman, but I can’t guarantee I’ll see it.
