MovieStyle Review

My son Colby has a talking computer. Pretty high tech right? Actually it’s a touch screen computer with eye gaze if you want to get technical. The idea behind it is he uses his eyes to pick the words he wants to say and the computer will speak it for him. Only thing is, he doesn’t want to use it. When we got it the company told us that we could easily put videos onto it for him. Then we wouldn’t have to take a portable DVD player around with us. His computer hooks to his wheelchair and it’s all easily accessed. Again, he has to want to use it and he doesn’t. Anyway I hope someday that will change.

In the mean time I’ve tried and tried and tried to find an easy way to upload videos to his computer. So far I have Robin Hood and it took me about 8 hours, a lot of frustration and one computer almost thrown out the window.  Okay, I really wouldn’t have thrown it out the window but it was frustrating. So I gave up. It’s been sitting in his closet for 6 months. Until this weekend.

I was able to review the awesome and amazing TMPGEnc MovieStyle™. It’s a program that lets you easily convert digital videos for use on 14 different devices! Luckily with his computer it has some of the same video playing capabilities as the Xbox 360 so it worked for me.

MovieStyle allows you to take your digital movies off your computer and load them onto your iPad, iPod, iPhone, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and more. It’s easy to use, simply drag your video file and drop it into the resolution level you want. MovieStyle takes it from there. You cannot convert copy protected DVD’s but no one can so that’s nothing new. This is by far the easiest and most convenient form of video conversion that I have tried. And, I have tried several.

For me it was simply taking videos I had on my personal computer, converting them, putting them onto a USB drive and then transferring them to his computer. He still won’t use it but now I have the option of at least taking it with us.

The full version of MovieStyle will run you $39.95 but you can get a free 14 day trial to see if it works for you before you buy it. They have a great Q & A section, support forums if you need help and free upgrades. The other products I tried didn’t even come close to offering any of those options. If you are going to spend money on a product this is the one to spend it on.

I was given a copy of MovieStyle for review purposes. I was not financially compensated for this review and this is my honest opinion.
