Hilroy Back-to-School Review
Today was the first day of school for my girls, Olivia and Bridget. Olivia is now in Grade 7 and Bridget is in Grade 1. They both were really looking forward to going back to school. Olivia wanted to see her friends and Bridget was excited about going to school full time! No more kindergarten for her! My babies are growing up so fast.
Nowadays it is the parent’s responsibility to get school supplies for the children. I remember when I was in school in the 80’s, the school provided all the notebooks, pencils, erasers, etc for the children. Unfortunately, with cutbacks, it’s up to the parents to ensure that their children have everything they need to have a successful school year.
My girls are now set thanks to Hilroy and their awesome assortment of products they sent me for review. I was blown away when I opened it. It had everything and more that I could have wanted for Olivia and Bridget!
Olivia is going into grade 7 and will be using binders for each of her classes. Hilroy sent us a few different types of products that will be perfect for her to use this year. The Hilroy 1 1/2 inch Recycled Zipper Binder comes with a matching pencil case. It holds 150 sheets of paper. The binder is actually made of 100% recycled chipboard and covered with 30% PCW recycled paper. It’s a lime green colour with a funky leaf on the front. I like how sturdy it is and that it completely encloses all her papers.
The Hilroy 1 1/2 inch Customizable Zipper Binder was a hit. Olivia liked that she could colour her binder! It comes with a little change purse and four markers for your child to create a unique look. It also has two inside zippered pockets to provide even more storage.
I don’t think I have ever seen a product quite like the Mead Zwipes Binder! It’s so cool! It’s actually a 1 1/2 inch zippered binder that doubles as a dry erase board. You can write on the Zwipes board with the accompanying Zwipes marker and then erase with the Zwipes eraser! The first thing that came to my mind was how I used to write about my current crush on my binders when I was younger. I always had to liquid paper them off once the phase passed, but with this product you could just erase it off- easy and no mess! This will be good for Olivia to jot notes on or doodle (not that she should be doing that in school!) or write whatever her little heart desires. Inside it has a 4 pocket expanding file which is like a mini filing system! Very cool. She will be the most organized kid at school this year with all these fantastic products!
The Five Star Flex NoteBinder is a cross between a notebook and a binder. The size we received was X-Large so it actually holds more than a 1 1/2 inch binder. It includes 3 Divider NotePockets and 4 Note Protectors and 100 sheets of lined paper. I am not sure what subject Olivia will use it for yet. I told her to wait until school starts and then see where she can use it the most. She thought it was pretty neat! I could see her using it to hold her projects or reports.
We also received several Mead Pocket and Prong Portfolios in a sports theme and purrs and grrrs (cute kittens and puppies). They each have two pockets inside to hold papers and three prongs to hold paper. They are basically a duotang with pockets, but the quality is MUCH better than any duotang that I have previously purchased. I liked that they are sturdy and the girls really liked the ones with the animals on it.
In addition, each girl got their own Mead notebook. Bridget received the Purrs & Grrrs 60 sheet notebook with the adorable bull dog on a skateboard on the cover and Olivia received the 80 page Shape It Up notebook with its funky colourful design. They can be used for just about anything- school work or just for fun! Olivia kept the 4 inch Mead Shape It Up notepad and said she was going to use it to write down her homework and assignments.
Bridget loves her Jolie Casemade Notebook. It’s perfect for a little girl of her age. She loves that it has “fancy” sheets for her to write on and stickers for her to decorate her book. It has a storage pocket inside as well. I thought it was adorable. It reminded me of a journal. Although she is only learning to read and write, I think this notebook will be good for her to use and help her practice.
Last, but not least, Olivia is using the Zwipes Pencil Case this year. It is like her Zwipes binder and includes an area for her to write on with the Zwipes marker (provided with the case)! It’s a good size case and fit all of her pencils and pens in it.
All these products are wonderful and will be put to good use this year. Check out these products the next time you are at your local store (Zellers, Walmart, Staples, etc)!
