Book Review: Sweet Misfortune
Title: Sweet Misfortune: A Novel
Author: Kevin Alan Milne
My Review:
I read fast…when the book is good, and this book, well, was wonderful! The characters were so gripping, you could find yourself in their shoes…and the storyline was one you would never want to deal with.
Sophia was 9 years old when she lost her whole family…at the blink of an eye, due to an accident. She spent the rest of the time with a foster mom, who could never really help her deal with what happened. As you follow the story, you learn about how others’ actions affect you at times, in ways you can never imagine… You also learn how your mind can make you feel down the line when you haven’t really dealt with something.
I read books for different reasons, and even the storyline (though fiction) can help me to understand how books have helped me in different capacities. This girl went full circle, in a twist with a man you will not even see coming. Do not peak at the end first…..I didn’t, and I am glad I did! I was able to read this book fast because the storyline was so intriguing…following her along her journey of self-discovery!
This is a wonderful book, one I highly recommend to everyone!
I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this novel.*
