Book Review | My Teenage Werewolf

Title: My Teenage Werewolf: A Mother, a Daughter, a Journey Through the Thicket of Adolescence

Author: Lauren Kessler

My Review:

My daughter, Hannah will be four years old next month. I am reveling in the fact that I am, in her opinion “The Greatest Mommy in the whole wide world.” What do you mean that may change in ten more years? I refuse to accept that my sweet, mild mannered daughter may one day turn into a werewolf. However, in the slight chance that this may happen in the future, I was eager to read “My Teenage Werewolf” by Lauren Kessler.

The author brilliantly chronicles her relationship with her daughter and the struggles that threatened their relationship when her daughter turned twelve years old. Their story will make you laugh, nod your head knowingly, and at times make you want to cry. I was so pulled in that when the book ended, I felt as if I was leaving my new “friends” behind.

If you are the mother of a daughter then I would recommend that you run to get this book. “My Teenage Werewolf” will remain on my bookshelf for years to come and will be referenced again and again as I journey through life with Hannah. I will continue to pray that she does not transform but if she does…I am now more prepared for what to expect.
