Title: Knuffle Bunny Free: An Unexpected Diversion

Author: Mo Willems

My Review:

I am a big fan of Mo Willems children’s books so I was quite excited to find out about his new release Knuffle Bunny Free: An Unexpected Journey. This is the conclusion to the beloved Knuffle Bunny book series. I had no doubt that it would be an excellent book but what I didn’t expect is that I would cry……yes, my children had to give me lots of hugs after reading this amazing story.

As a child, I had a favorite pillow that has been with me ever since. It is like an old comfortable friend that is always there. My daughter amazingly took to her own “twin pillows” and she totes them around the house. My youngest son has a “blankie” which is actually a pink Raggedy Ann crib sheet that he swiped from his sister as a baby. So that is why this story truly hit home for our family.

Knuffle Bunny Free is the tale of a little girl named Trixie, her loving mom and dad and her beloved stuffed animal, Knuffle Bunny as they journey to Holland to visit her grandmother. A series of unexpected events occur along the way and unfolds into an irresistible story of love and growing up.

The illustrations are fantastic and the way it captures facial expressions and body language is just priceless. What surprised me the most is that my four year old daughter and five year old son actually understood the moral of this story and translated it into their lives asking if their favorite friends would “be around forever and ever?”  This is one amazing story that should be on every child’s bookshelf…it will be a classic tale in our home.
