Is There A Bathroom On This Ship?

Today I would like to welcome Kim from Is There A Bathroom On This Ship? I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

I’m a homeschooling mom of 2 boys (and furmom to 2 rescued dogs and 1 rescued cat!) living on the Atlantic Florida coast.  I’ve been passionate about organics for over 8 years and recently stepped that up a notch in April 2010 by going almost vegan.  Technically I am a strict pescetarian, meaning I consume some seafood, but I otherwise adhere to vegan standards as much as possible.  I feel very strongly about living a green/eco-friendly lifestyle and truly believe you should be the change you want to see in the world.  I also enjoy nature, reading, beachcombing, and baking.

Please tell me about your blog.

My blog, Is There A Bathroom On This Ship?, covers a myriad of topics such as organics, vegetarian/vegan recipes and products, eco-friendly living and related products, great reads, healthy living, and reviews and giveaways.

How long have you been blogging?

I have been a blogger for over 6 years, but Is There A Bathroom On This Ship? is a new blogging adventure for me as it only came into being in April 2010.

How did you get started?

I started my blog as a way to share my leap into going almost vegan after reading The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone.  It gradually evolved into so much more as I wanted to share with my readers wonderful products my family enjoys, yummy vegetarian/vegan recipes, tips for living green, healthy living ideas, and the opportunity to win great giveaways.

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I feature organics (foods/drinks, clothing and accessories, household products, personal products, etc.), books and cookbooks related to green living, vegetarian/vegan living, healthy living, and Christian topics, eco-friendly household products, toys, and games, organic/eco-friendly pet products, and books/products of interest to homeschoolers.

What was your favourite giveaway?

It would be hard to select just one.  I believe my favorite is going to turn out to be one I’m in the process of reviewing at the moment, so the giveaway hasn’t actually happened yet.  It’s for Zehn Naturals organic women’s t-shirts.  The designs are fun and beautiful, and the organic cotton shirts are so soft I never want to take them off!

Who does your blog appeal to?

My blog’s readers are quite varied.  Some share my same passion for organic, green, and vegan living – others are new to learning about small changes they can make to live healthier and lessen their impact on the planet.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I’m learning and growing right along with my readers!  There are so many amazing products I’ve become aware of through the wonderful world of blogging that I was not familiar with before.  I believe my blog will continue to be a road of discovery and enlightenment for myself and my readers.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

My biggest challenge is often trying to put together choherent sentences with two very active boys demanding my attention at the same time.  I think all moms, especially of boys, can relate.

What do you love about blogging?

One thing I love most about blogging is the friendships I’ve made as a result.  There are ladies in the United States, Canada, Australia, and all over the world that I have come to treasure as dear friends even though most of us have never met.

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

Negativity.  We’re all unique individuals that will never share all the same interests and passions.  If you can’t leave a kind word for a blogger, it’s better to say nothing at all.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaways? Newbie review bloggers?

My advice for those entering my giveaways is to take the chance even if the number of entries is high.  You never know – you may be the winner!
My advice for newbie review bloggers is to stay true to yourself.  Don’t review a product you personally really aren’t interested in or one that doesn’t line up with your lifestyle and beliefs just for the sake of reviewing something.
