Blog Spotlight | 3 Princes & A Princess 2

Today I would like to welcome Crystal from 3 Princes & A Princess 2. I had a chance to learn more about her blog and here’s what she had to say…

Please tell me about yourself.

I am a 28 yr old Mother of 4. 3 Crazy Boys and 1 even crazier girl. I have been married going on 10 years to my usually (wink wink) wonderful husband. We moved from NY to Florida 3 years ago and finally became home owners less then a year ago..YAY! So I have been trying to adjust to the Florida lifestyle while missing home like crazy. On top of that I am also adjusting to becoming a SAHM I left my job of almost 5 years as a retail manger in April. Income wise it is challenging but I am really enjoy the time with my family.

Please tell me about your blog.

Well my blog is 3 Princes & A Princess 2 I’m thinking there is not a lot of explaining to do there ;). I’m not sure if I would label it more a mommy blog or a review blog.. I think it is a good mix. Like other Moms I am proud and like to share the good but also sometimes need a venting outlet. I have also become very passionate about my reviewing and finding the right balance of reviews for the whole family down to the pets.

How long have you been blogging?

I would definitely still call myself a newbie…maybe 3 mths

How did you get started?

When I left my job I found myself very unsure how to balance my free time and really missing that random adult conversation. I had some friends that’s blogs I regally visited. I figured Blogging may be a good outlet for my free time and a way to still feel a part of the adult world..If that makes sense. I started really enjoy learning about new companies from other blogs and appreciating their honest reviews. I figured that would also be a great way to occupy my time, share my thoughts and opinions with others, and find some great retailers I maybe would have never know about. And I have!

What kinds of products do you feature on your blog?

I like variety. Although I am geared more towards children, I love to do all kinds of reviews for all members of the family including pets.

Who does your blog appeal to?

I don’t like to narrow it down. I would like to think that it could have the potential to appeal to all. which is why I like to try and keep a variety in my reviews/giveaway and participate in memes. I think with my general posts though they appeal  more to Mothers. As a Mom of 4 I can’t help but for my children to be the center of all I do.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

I hope to see it grow. I’m going to purchase my own domain this month but am debating if it is worth it to switch over to wordpress first..I am just not a big fan of change. I would love to get a new design other then the one I put together. My husband said go for it, but now that I’m not working I’m having a hard time justifying spending the money on it. We will see temptation may get the best of me yet

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

Over thinking my posts. I’m at my best when complaining..I hate to say it but it’s true. I’m the kind of person who has always felt better by getting it all out in writing. I have tried for the most part to stay clear of blog rants ( ok maybe not). I feel like when I write a general post that is what they are vents of sorts and I guess I felt bad about that. Since I tried and stop the “vent” post I’ve had a writers block so to say. I think I need to stop over analyzing everything and do what comes natural to me. Which may happen to be but hey we all need to let it out once in awhile!

Do you have a blogging pet peeve?

I do..I’m sure there is a good reason for the captcha words (or whatever they are called). In general I don’t mind them for comments. It is when a blog offers something like 10 entries for following/etc and it takes my 2 minutes to post each comment because for some reason (maybe I should get my eyes checked and stop complaining) I always get the captcha word wrong the first time. I want to pull my hair out! I usually just give up on the extra entries. This doesn’t mean I don’t LOVE extra entries… I just hate those little words.

Do you have any advice for the readers entering your giveaway? newbie review bloggers?

I try to keep my entries simple and stick to basic entry you would find on most blog’s. I always have my Mandatory entry usually directing traffic at the sponsor with addition entries counting as additional comments. I also give the daily tweet entries for those passionate about winning a certain giveaway. I know that is one of my favorite entries when I find a good giveaway I really like.My advice would be..Don’t sell yourself or your blog short. You can’t get frustrated and watch your numbers constantly. You will be really surprised how many companies really will welcome you even at your start. Everyone has to start some place right? I would also say to take time when you pitch. I had a few companies say they may have said No at my start but were really impressed by my pitch. Stick with it everything great takes time 🙂 That is what I keep telling myself!

Tell me some of your favorite blog’s that you read.
